Project HK-UK is a very unique project. Organised by the Hong Kong Furniture Decoration & Trade Association, it brought together more than 60 designers from different backgrounds in Hong Kong and the UK to respond to 6 furniture design themes, and was also assisted by a number of furniture industry experts from the Chamber of Commerce as production mentors to cooperate with the Hong Kong Design Mendees team. They put forward professional production suggestions, experimented with various technical solutions, applied and designed structures, materials, and turned 12 sets of Hong Kong designs from concept sketches into real objects! This project is also supported by Creative Hong Kong CreateHK, and we are showcasing everyone in Milan!
Architects often need to travel to the construction site and communicate with contractors/engineers in person in order to master the project. To design a chair that fits both modern lifestyles and both work and rest, Desk Bench Flip's design team was creative while focusing on the needs of Hong Kong people. They wanted to design a piece of furniture that would fit into tight spaces while also being functional and tasteful.
